Bixby is a smart virtual assistant developed and released into the market on 21st April 2017. It was meant to rival Google’s Google assistant, Apple’s Siri, Amazon’s Alexa and Microsoft’s Cortana. Samsung deemed it to be the new smart interface for smartphones.
If you want to understand how bixby works, think of Google, Siri and Alexa. They contain basically every bit of information about anything in the universe.
The major difference with bixby is that you do not have to touch your device. Given your preference, your voice can do just as much as your touch.
Aside from talking instead of touching, bixby also has two other major features. The first one is bixby vision camera which is an augmented reality camera. This identifies objects in real time and then search for them on numerous sources.
The second aspect is bixby home. This is basically a list of information such as weather and health issues that bixby interacts with.
Despite these features, bixby has major shortcomings. It only works for one phone and, therefore, getting third party support from other app developers is quite challenging.

The other issue is with bugs. These tend to create annoying delays before a command is implemented. Tasks such as raising phone brightness or beaming a video from a phone to a TV takes a lot of time.
Due to these shortcomings, Samsung mobile phone users may like to disable bixby. The company is yet to develop a way of permanently disabling it.
You can force stop the applications but the disable button is inactive. This article will provide the various alternatives on how to disable bixby.

How to Disable the Bixby Button
This method is widely used due to its applicability across all Samsung smart phones. You tap the settings icon from the bixby screen. After that you tap the off switch in order to disable the functionality of the bixby key.
An alternative to this is from the menu icon, tap settings. Once you the options open, you tap on bixby key and then select don’t open anything. If this is unsatisfactory, there is another way of going about it.
Disabling Bixby Voice
This mainly applies to galaxy S9 and galaxy S9 plus. First you open bixby home. This is done by swiping to the furthest left of the home screen. Once you have navigated to this point, tap the menu button which appears at the top of the screen.
Then you tap on settings after which you will be provided with various options. Scroll downwards until you get to the bixby voice option. Then you press the toggle in order to complete the process.
Satisfied? If not, here is another option.
Turning off Bixby Home
At times a user may only require using bixby voice but the bixby home up just unnecessarily keeps popping up. This mostly occurs on the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8.
Turning off the bixby home requires a two step process. First and foremost you deactivate the bixby home button. This you can do by opening the app and then at the top of your screen, you tap the toggle, which is for ‘open bixby home when you press bixby key’.
The second step is turning of the Bixby Home Screen. To do this, locate an empty space on the home screen and perform a pinch act. The apps will shrink and new options become available, for instance for accessing themes.
Scroll to the furthest left until you see the Bixby Home Screen. You then tap the toggle located above the screen to turn off Bixby Home.
Note that it is not possible to completely eliminate the bixby service from your phone. It is however possible to stop the individual applications as explained above.
While technology is good, we have to keep in mind that some innovation might end up being nagging. That means you’d need to have them removed as soon as possible. The case of Bixby isn’t any different, either.
Even though this application is meant to make your Smartphone smarter, it can sometimes prove buggy and generally stubborn. So, removing it would be a great idea.
